
Shimla's Snow & Nature Getaway
Perched at about 2,720 m just outside Shimla, Kufri is a popular short getaway famed for its winter snow and Himalayan panoramas. In the cold months it draws crowds for sledging and snow play, while clear days reward visitors with views stretching to distant snow peaks from spots like Mahasu Peak.

Kufri is a small hill spot near Shimla famous for winter snow, sledging and seasonal skiing, the Himalayan Nature Park with rare high-altitude wildlife, and sweeping views of the snow-clad Himalayas from spots like Mahasu Peak.
Kufri is about 12–16 km from Shimla on the Hindustan–Tibet road (NH-5), roughly a 30–45 minute drive. It is an easy half-day or day trip and is often combined with Chail or Naldehra.
Kufri usually sees snow from late December to February, when it becomes a popular snow-play destination. For green meadows and pleasant weather, visit March to June; the monsoon (July–September) is misty and best avoided for views.
